Our mission

We believe preserving a language starts with making it easy to learn. That is why we built a complete dictionary, a structured grammar and a verb conjugation engine that resolves Umbundu's rules automatically — without relying on fixed lists or in-person classes.

Why Umbundu

Umbundu is the language of the Ovimbundu people, spoken by millions in Angola's central highlands — Huambo, Bié, Huíla and neighbouring regions. It is one of the country's most widely spoken Bantu languages, yet remains under-represented in digital tools. Popia wants to change that, one word at a time.
